Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach Services, Inc. has received a grant from The Rite Aid Foundation in support of its Wellness Center. The grant, a one-time gift in the amount of $12,000, will be used to support the organization’s dental services, prenatal and women’s health services during 2010-2011.
During the past year the Outreach’s Wellness Center provided 2,574 free dental patient visits, and 1,260 free prenatal and women’s health patient visits. The Wellness Center is operated by the Outreach in cooperation with the Medical University of South Carolina and Roper St. Francis Healthcare.
“We are absolutely delighted by this wonderful gift to us from The Rite Aid Foundation,” said Sister Mary Joseph Ritter, executive director of the Outreach. “ The wellness needs of our neighbors are great, and The Rite Aid Foundation’s assistance will go a long way toward meeting them. We are most grateful.”
