Seabrook Island residents Jeff and Sharon Austin attended the most recent Birdies for the Brave event, on Sea Island, Nov. 13. Jeff is a PGA life member and a Callaway Master Fitter.

Birdies for the Brave, a program supported by the PGA Tour, is a national military outreach initiative, dedicated to honoring men and women in the Armed Forces and their families. It was the brainchild of PGA Tour golfer Phil Mickelson and his wife Amy, in 2004.

Jeff Austin, who is the Callaway Golf tech representative for this part of the state, travels to Tour events in this area to custom fit injured servicemen and women with free sets of Callaway golf clubs. Austin can most always be found on the practice tee at Seabrook Island Golf Club or at the Kiawah Island Golf Learning Center to fit residents here on the islands when he’s not on the road with Birdies for the Brave, or Callaway Golf.
