Penny Wars

By Lisa Giuliana for The Island Connection

Students at the Nativity School in Charleston recently took on extra chores at home and used their allowances to donate coins and bills for the school’s week-long penny wars fundraiser during National Catholic Schools Week.

In just five days, they raised more than $1,200, and, on Feb. 12, presented checks of $600 each to the MUSC Shawn Jenkins Children’s Hospital and the local Ronald McDonald House.

Located at 1125 Pittsford Circle in Charleston, Nativity is a Catholic Christian School that serves pre-kindergarten through eighth grade students from Church of the Nativity, Holy Spirit and Our Lady of Good Counsel parishes, as well as children from the surrounding community. Since 1960, the school has been dedicated to the academic and spiritual growth of its students in a culturally diverse environment.
