By Kiawah Women Supporting the Arts for The Island Connection
The board of Arts, etc. is happy to announce that the 20th annual House Tour will take place this spring on May 7. All COVID-19 protocol will be in place and they feel sure that a safe event can take place. There will be five houses in unique settings, four of which were to be on the tour which was canceled last spring.
One house is near the ocean, a very family oriented home with nautical touches and unique finishes. Another is in Ocean Park near the eastern end of the island, filled with art work to rival the vistas of the marshes and river from several floors including a rooftop deck with a fireplace. In the Preserve the house on tour is a modern gem filled with Southern art and with seamless flow inside and out, including a curved bridge over an infinity pool to a guest house which seems to float over the marsh.
A house on the Kiawah River includes hand hewn beams, beautiful green quartz in the bar, simple elegance in the décor and a secret playroom reached by a ship’s ladder. The newest house added to the tour overlooks the River Course and river, with a barrel vaulted two story ceiling allowing views from both floors, an infinity pool and screen porches as well as a self-sufficient guest house.
The tour will be held from 1-5 p.m., and ticket information will be released later in the spring. The proceeds of the tour will benefit children of the sea islands in cooperation with several performing and visual arts organizations.
