Help make Johns Island roads safer

Provided by the Concerned Citizens for the Sea Islands

Poor driving habits including inattention, speeding, cell phone use, and driving while impaired (drugs and/or alcohol) are the major cause of accidents on Johns Island roads and elsewhere.

There is no question that intensive law enforcement is very effective in reducing these causes and the resulting accidents.

However, despite numerous pleas from the Concerned Citizens of the Sea Islands, Johns Island Council, and many individual residents of Johns, Wadmalaw, Kiawah and Seabrook Islands to Charleston County officials requesting stricter enforcement on Johns Island roads, there has been no response.

Therefore, we have drawn up a petition that will be presented to Charleston County requesting immediate county and/or state law enforcement on Main/Bohicket and River Roads to improve the safety of our existing road system.

We would appreciate your help. Please click HERE, or cut and paste this URL into your browser: and sign the petition.

Also forward this e-mail to your friends, family, and associates and ask them to sign on for safer roads, NOW.

Thank you.
