By Alberta Barron for The Island Connection
Please join the Seabrook Island Garden Club in welcoming guest speaker Suzanne Strehle at the Oyster Catcher Community Center on Friday, Jan. 10, at 9:30 a.m.
Originally from Augusta, Georgia, Suzanne is now a member of the Seabrook Island Community. She fell in love with flowers when her first-born was just a toddler and worked one day a week in a local flower shop to pursue her passion.
She took orders over the phone but loved watching the designers and their creations.
A graduate of the American College of Allied Arts in Atlanta, Suzanne also studied with a Japanese Ikebana teacher for five years and traveled to Japan to earn her degree in Sogetsu Ikebana. She has enjoyed a lengthy career and has worked in every facet of the industry. In 1986, she was inducted into the very selective and prestigious American Institute of Floral Designers.
As a florist and event coordinator in Augusta, Suzanne acquired some very important accounts, including Mercedes Benz, IBM, Golf Digest and Rolex. When she decided to move to Seabrook, she sold her shop in Augusta and continues to build her business here in Seabrook, Kiawah and Charleston. She works with many local country clubs on their holiday décor and members’ social events.
We hope to see you on Jan. 10.
