The 27th SC Volunteer Infantry and Legare Farms Education Foundation are proud to announce the 6th annual “Battle of Charleston” Civil War re-enactment. This event will take place on April 17 and 18, 2010, at Legare Farms on Johns Island. Gates open at 9 a.m., with battles taking place both days at 2 p.m. A Living History Education Day will take place April 16, 2010, for school children. Teachers may book the field trip by calling Legare Farms at 559-0788.
Living History demonstrations will be ongoing throughout both days. These demonstrations may include candle making, quilting, spinning, and butter churning. A number of special events will also take place, including period church services and a period ball for re-enactors, as well as a ladies’ rolling pin toss on Saturday. Guest may visit both soldiers and civilian campsites. Legare Farms is located at 2620 Hanscombe Pt. Rd. Johns Island. Just minutes from downtown Charleston, Legare Farms is a 300 acre working family farm since 1725. Part of the proceeds from this event will go to benefit the Hunley restoration and the Legare Farms Education Foundation.
