Community Benefits From Our Lady Of Mercy Community Outreach Services Golf Tourney

By Jeannie Colson for The Island Connection

Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach, a nonprofit that has been helping those in need on the Sea Islands and downtown Charleston for 30 years, will host its 27th annual golf tournament April 29 at the exclusive Golf Club at Briar’s Creek on Johns Island.

Registration gets underway at 11 a.m., with the shotgun start beginning at 1 p.m. An awards ceremony and dinner at the clubhouse will follow.

Early bird pricing is $450 per player or $1,650 for a foursome through April 1. The price then will increase to $475 per player or $1,850 for a foursome until registration closes April 22. Golfers will enjoy a round of golf in a four-player team format, lunch, refreshments, door prizes and gift bags.

All proceeds from the tournament will go directly to Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach’s mission to encourage and support self-sufficiency and self-worth for people in need through education, wellness and outreach services. The Golf Club at Briar’s Creek was designed by Rees Jones, with picturesque views of the Kiawah River embracing the Lowcountry landscape.

“We are very grateful for the support of our sponsors, volunteers and players who make this event possible year after year. OLMCOS is truly transforming lives, and this tournament is a way for everyone to have a good time and raise money to sustain our programs and services so we can keep making a sustainable impact in people’s lives,” said Ericka Plater, executive director of Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach.
