By Jim Bannister for The Island Connection
Building upon the success of the 2019 event, local volunteer organizers of the traditional Marine Corps Birthday Ball have set Tuesday evening Nov. 10 as the date for this year’s celebration of the Corps’ 245th anniversary.
“We are delighted that the beautiful Sandcastle Community Center on Kiawah Island will again host the ball. The strong support of this traditional celebration by the sea islands community last November served as the catalyst and encouragement needed to carry on the ball. We fully expect a complete sellout this year,” according to local Marine veterans Jim Bannister and Justin Follmer.
Bannister and Follmer made it clear that the event is not only for U.S. Marines past and present but also for all persons wanting to join in honoring and celebrating the Corps’ proud history. The program will include a Marine color guard, a traditional cake cutting ceremony, dinner, a hosted bar and live music and dancing.
Further information and ticket information will be released soon. Businesses and individuals wanting to support the Birthday Ball through sponsorships are invited to contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org.
