Get your art supplies ready and help support the Sea Island Habitat for Humanity 2011 Women Build Project. This April 1 through April 20, Habitat will be offering beams for sale which will be used during this year’s Women Build Project. Those who purchase beams are welcome to decorate them any way they choose before donating them to the build.
“We are very excited to be conducting this year’s Buy-A-Beam project,” says Amy Sanchez, Receptionist for SIHH. “The Buy-A-Beam project is a great way to teach your kids and grandkids how to give back to the community while also engaging them in a fun art project. This is a feel good project that you and your family members can take part of since your purchase will be helping the Women Build family become first-time homeowners!”
Sea Island Habitat has been helping families in the Lowcountry become first-time homeowners since 1978, during which time they have been able to help more than 270 families. Every spring, SIHH hosts a project called Women Build, which brings together women from all walks of life to address poverty housing by funding and building a Habitat home for a deserving family. This year’s Women Build home will cost approximately $60,000 to construct, with volunteer building taking place from April 30 – May 7. All of the proceeds from the “Buy-A-Beam” project will go directly towards funding the Sea Island Habitat Women Build project.
You can purchase your beam by calling or emailing the Sea Island Habitat for Humanity office at 768-0998. The Sea Island Habitat for Humanity office is open Monday – Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Please support this year’s build and Buy-A-Beam today!
