Staff Report for The Island Connection
The Bach Society of Charleston has scheduled two upcoming events.
The Society’s fall concert, “J.S. Bach’s Goldberg Variations,” will feature Parker Ramsay on harp Sept. 18 at the Unitarian Church, 4 Archdale St. in Charleston. Tickets to the 7:30 p.m. show are $25.
Ramsay will perform his own arrangement for harp of Bach’s celebrated Goldberg Variations, which he recorded last fall in King’s College Chapel in Cambridge. The performance will capture the recording’s unique and magical ambience.
Scott Jarrett, president of Early Music America, will present “Bachanalia – From Mourning to Joy: What Bach’s Music Teaches Us About Times of Adversity,” Jan. 28, 2021, at the Charleston Library Society, 164 King St. Tickets for the 7 p.m. show are $30.
Social distancing and mask wearing will be observed at all concerts. In the event of COVID-related cancellations, tickets are refundable.
