Volunteer dental assistant, Lindsey Weser, is a strong believer that good oral health leads to good overall health. She wants to make a difference in people’s lives by providing them information and ongoing care in order to stay healthy.
This single mother of two daughters is pursuing an Associate’s Degree in Dental Hygiene. Before becoming a Dental Assistant, Lindsey worked in publishing and media sales.
“While I certainly enjoyed my previous career, the dental field is ultimately a better fit for my personality and I’m glad I made the leap,” says Lindsey. “I really enjoy working with people in a hands-on capacity and get great satisfaction knowing I can help them directly.”
A fellow volunteer introduced Lindsey to Our Lady of Mercy Community Outreach and the Wellness Center staff.
Through her volunteer service, Lindsey has been able to continue learning with hands-on experience.
“I love being a part of helping people improve and maintain their oral health, and it makes me feel proud knowing I can be a part of helping people stay healthy,” she says.
Lindsey also enjoys working with the other volunteers and the staff. “Everyone is happy to be there offering their time and talent, and it’s amazing to experience.”
She plans to continue her volunteer work with OLMCOS by providing dental hygiene services once she is a Registered Dental Hygienist. Lindsey believes, “Every one of us has something to share. Get involved in any way you can, and I think you’ll find that volunteering is some of the most rewarding work there is.Tweet
