Hurricane Stirs At Kiawah Island

On Saturday, Feb. 3 the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour was in South Carolina to host the Kiawah Island Junior Challenge at the beautiful Kiawah Island – Turtle Point course. The competitors faced tough weather both Saturday and Sunday. The HJGT would like to thank the amazing staff of the Kiawah Island Golf Course for their hospitality and ensuring excellent conditions for the field of play.

Tiger Woods Division, Boys 16-18

Onterio Jones of Simpsonville, SC is the Boys 16-18 champion. Jones had a 1st round of 81 on Saturday and a 2nd round of 75 on Sunday for a two-day total of 156. Drew Mullen and Ben Morehead tied for 2nd. Mullen and Morehead had a two-day total of 161. The players had a great time competing and their close scores made it even more exciting. Top 3 Leaders: Onterio Jones, Drew Mullen, Ben Morehead.

Will Smith Division, Boys 14-15

David Morton of Deephaven, MN is the Boys 14-15 champion. After an 80 on Saturday, Morton carded a 78 on Sunday for a two-day total of 158. Ian Glanton of Metter, GA came in 2nd with a two-day total of 172 (83-89). Matthew Doyle of Madison, CT placed 3rd with a two-day total of 163. Doyle carded an 85 on Saturday and a 78 on Sunday. Top 3 Leaders: David Morton, Ian Glanton, Matthew Doyle.

Ernie Els Division, Boys 11-13

Sung Ho Lee of Hilton Head Island, SC was the champion of the Boys 11-13 division. Lee carded a 76 on Saturday and a 84 on Sunday for a 160 two-day total. Luke Walmet of Mt. Pleasant, SC finished in 2nd with a two-day total of 161 (81-80). 3rd was awarded to Will Stelt who totaled 162 (81-81). This division had great competition and each player can walk away proud of their effort. Top 3 Leaders: Sung Ho Lee, Luke Walmet, Will Stelt.

Just Timberlake Division, Girls 14-18

Jeongbin Shin is the Girls 14-18 champion. Shin scored a 76 on Saturday, and a 76 on Sunday for a two-day total of 152. Finishing in 2nd from Saint Charles, IL was Katelyn David who posted rounds of 83 on Saturday and 82 on Sunday for a total of 165. 3rd place was awarded to Liv Erwin who totaled 172, shooting an 85 on Saturday and a 87 on Sunday.  Top 3 Leaders: Jeongbin Shin, Katelyn David, Liv Erwin.

Justin Rose Division, Girls Under 13

Mary Miller of Savannah, GA took home the Girls U13 first place trophy. Miller had a two day total of 157, having carded 85 on Saturday and 72 on Sunday. Chae-Yoon Um came in second with a two-day total of 168 (86-82). 3rd place was awarded to Taylor Sieg who had a 1st round of 111 and 2nd round of 109 for a two-day total of 220. Top 3 Leaders: Mary Miller, Chae-Yoon Um, Taylor Sieg.

Boys Under 10

Channing Addington of Watkinsville, GA is the Boys U10 champion. Addington had a respectable two-day total of 180. Saturday, Addington shot a 93, and Sunday posted an 87.
