Billyo O’Donnell, Missouri native and Master Oil Artist, will conduct an oil paint workshop on Oct. 3, 4, and 5. With his Midwest charm and work ethics, O’Donnell brings immense talent and wonderful rapport to his workshops.
O’Donnell will conduct “Figures in the Landscape 2” from 9:30 to 4:30. The workshop will be held at Our Savior Church on Betsy Kerrison Parkway.
O’Donnell will only be teaching one workshop this year so the Lowcountry is fortunate to have him again at the Todd & Huff Art Center.
O’Donnell taught “Figures 1” last fall and was so successful that we wanted him to continue his subject at the next level.
There will be review (he gives everyone simple guidelines to get those figures in the right proportion), lots of critiques, and an emphasis on figures in motion.
O’Donnell spends a great deal of time with each participant as well as demonstrating how to include figures in landscapes by adding them in finished paintings. He also uses a special technique and teaching tool, in working with your own paintings, that gives each artist wonderful feedback on how to improve their work.
O’Donnell has won numerous awards and accolades including being voted into Plein Air Painters of America, the Bronze Award in Ireland (largest plein air event in Europe), and invitation to paint and sketch the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra.
O’Donnell has painted all of the 115 counties of Missouri which are included in the book, Painting Missouri.
Other notable artists offering workshops for the Todd & Huff Art Center in 2017-18 are: Shelby Keefe, Nov. 8, 9 and 10; Qiang Huang, Mar. 19, 29 and 21; Don Sahli, May 1, 2, 3 and 4; Karen Weihs, June 5, 6 and 7; Nancy Franke, Oct. 9 and 10.Tweet
