golf cart-courseBarrier Island Free Medical Clinic on Maybank Road, Johns Island, has only been serving the sea islands for a little over four years, but they have already become an invaluable asset to our island communities. To help support their ongoing efforts of providing primary health care to uninsured adults living at or below 200% of the Federal Poverty Level, BIFMC will be hosting their 3rd Annual Celebrity Golf Invitational at Cassique Club House on Monday, May 24, starting at 10:30 a.m.

The Invitational will include several fun events, including a Beat Burger competition and putting contests, and this year’s format is a Scramble (Captain’s Choice) consisting of four-player teams. Celebrity golfers for this year’s event include Mike Gminsky, former Duke and professional basketball player and TV college basketball analyst; Ken Burger, Post and Courier columnist and published author; Bobby Cremins, head basketball coach for the College of Charleston; and Kevin Higgins, Head Football Coach at The Citadel.

Entry fees include golf tees, golfer gift bag, lunch, refreshments, cocktails and a buffet dinner. The entry fee for each player is $400 and each team will consist of four players. If you don’t have a USGA Handicap Index, you will need to present five recent attested score cards.
