Summer Concert at the Sanctuary
Family friendly event of music held Friday or Saturday evenings on The Grand Lawn of The Sanctuary. Each concert will host a different regional band for this complimentary event sponsored by the Town of Kiawah Island. Guests are welcome to bring beach chairs or blankets (no outside alcoholic beverages allowed). Cocktail service available and the event is weather dependent. Featuring The Coastal Breeze. 5 p.m.
2013 Water Ball at the SC Aquarium
This year’s event will feature dishes from a dozen of the area’s most sustainably focused chefs.
The aquatic space will also feature an oyster bar by Clammer Dave Belanger, chef and beverage stations, interactive photo booths and more. Funds support Charleston Waterkeeper. For tickets, visit the Charleston Waterkeeper website. $75/advance, $90/door. 7 – 11 p.m.
Hands On Rice Planting at Middleton Place
Join a costumed interpreter and learn about Carolina Gold rice planted on Low Country plantations, the African origins of rice and its cultivation in South Carolina in the 18th and 19th centuries. Traditional methods will be employed beginning with the May planting through the September harvest. 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. Middleton Place. 4300 Ashley River Road, Charleston.

The Seabrook Island Community Yard Sale will be open to the public; however, sign ups to sell items are for Property Owners only. Red Cross Training
If our community has a large scale disaster, like a hurricane, the Red Cross will need to open over 60 shelters to house and feed evacuated residents. KICA has partnered with the Red Cross to train volunteers who can help set up shelters and provide the residents food and comfort.
