Water, Water, Everywhere
Andy Fairey, CEO of the Charleston Water System, educated Kiawah-Seabrook Exchangites on March 22, 2012. He discussed how we are all able to have drinking water of the highest quality and for good value, as well as a safe and functioning wastewater system. This is accomplished with 1,700 miles of distribution lines through which 20,000,000 gallons of water traverse daily. The Edisto River and Lake Moultrie are the source of much of this water.
New Members and Upcoming Events
George Conbeer became a new member of the Club, which will soon hear from artist Mary Whyte. The 2nd annual Bohicket Marina 5K-10K race, co-sponsored by the Club and which will be held on April 21 on Seabrook Island, was also discussed.
Directory Sales Top $150,000
Telephone directory sales have wrapped up, and the Club has raised more than $150,000 to be donated to local charities and educational programs. The Club will conduct a special Education Recognition night on April 18.
Recognizing Volunteers
The Board also voted to establish an annual volunteer recognition award, to be known as the Angel Oak Award. A special expanded meeting recognizing the first recipient is being planned for early next year.
